It's been a while since i've updated this news page, but I've got a bit of free time so I thought I would.
2016 was a great year for me. In January I was off on tour with The Shires, but unlike the usually touring I was used to, this was a little bit different. This was an arena support tour with The Corrs for their 10 year reunion. We performed all across the country at venues such as the O2 Arena London, the SSE Hydro Glasgow and the 3 Arena Dublin.
Pictured here is me playing a hire kit from John Henry's in London. Towards the end of 2015 I was lucky to be offered an endorsement with my favourite drum company. Ludwig Drums. Whilst my kit was being made, I was able to hire this lovely classic maple kit to tour with.
Following the arena tour I continued to work the function scene in the North West, playing at various weddings & corporate events. As well as this, I was lucky enough to land the gig with Prose - an acoustic hip hop band from Manchester. My first tour with Prose was April 2016.
In May, The Shires were asked to support The Corrs again on their Germany leg of the tour. This was an exciting time for myself as I had not toured out of the UK before and had never been to Germany! We were back in for a few days rehearsals and then straight on the tour bus to Germany. Venue's we performed at include; the Mercedes- Benz Arena Berlin & the Barclaycard Arena Hamburg.
Here is my 1966 Ludwig Super Classic from Rusty Drums, sat in front of Catherine Corr's drum riser.
Throughout the summer I was fairly busy doing the festival circuit with The Shires. We played at Cornbury, Bracknell & headlined the acoustic stage at Glastonbury, to name a few.
Following the summer festivals we went on to perform on the BBC's Radio 2 breakfast show with Chris Evans. The special guests included Mark Strong, Anne Robinson, Michael Pena & Robbie Williams. We performed a cover of 'Angels' live on air.
I was back with Prose for September/October on support tours with both The Enemy & JP Cooper. The Enemy tour venues include O2 ABC Glasgow & O2 Ritz Manchester, and JP Coopers final show of the tour was at Kentish Town Forum.
I finished up for the year on The Shires' My Universe Tour, the tour following their second album 'My Universe' which reached number 3 in the Official UK Album Charts. We performed all across the UK & Ireland at venues such as the Bridgewater Hall Manchester, St David's Hall Cardiff & Shepherds Bush Empire London.
This year I'll be heading to Australia in March with The Shires for a few shows out there and then there'll be a UK tour in April.
Big thanks to everyone I've worked with throughout 2016. I'm looking forward to continuing throughout this year x
This summer has been really busy with The Shires. We've played at a number of major festivals across the UK including Glastonbury, Isle of Wight and Camp Bestival and supported Sir Tom Jones on a few of his live shows.
I'm really looking forward to heading back out with The Shires on their next UK headline tour in October. You can check out the dates here: http://www.theshiresmusic.com/tour/
Had an absolutely insane weekend down at the O2 playing Country 2 Country festival with The Shires. We played 2 afternoon shows and finished off playing the festivals after party on Sunday evening. To top it all off, The Shires debut album reached No. 10 in the UK Official Album Charts!! Check out some pictures below.
I've started the New Year at Angelic Studios near Milton Keynes recording an EP for the band, PYE. We've been working with Tom Fuller and Toby Smith. It's been great getting the tracks in the studio and really hearing them come alive. We've been playing them just straight off the demos we've been sent previously, so it's nice to write new parts have and add some extra bits added in to assure the tracks are sounding huge! Watch this space! X
Amazing crowd last night at the Brudenell in Leeds. Such a great feeling having the crowd sing back to us. The whole vibe in that room was incredible last night!
Great show last night at Band on the Wall in Manchester last night! Best show of the tour so far. Heading up North now to play in Gateshead! Why aye man!!
Headlining Bush Hall was so much fun! We played a really energetic set and it went down really well. Looking forward to a day off tomorrow back in Manchester, before we play yhe next sold out show at Band on the Wall on Thursday.
So we played our first of 2 sold out shows last night at London Bush hall! For this show we were first of the headliners and Ward Thomas were after us. The overall vibe of the gig was great, but it's always a bit different doing the main support to doing the headline slot. (The crowd are always warmed up for the headline band). But tonight we're headlining the Bush Hall so it's gonna be mega!!
Was lovely to meet up with my good friend Alex Bridge before the Oxford gig! (Although always nerve racking playing in front of other drummers) Our Oxford show was really good fun. The venue was really great, and completely packed out. There was so much energy on stage and the crowd were really enthusiastic! It was really nice to have my mum and aunties to watch us play as well! :-)
Had a day off from The Shires your today so we decided to head down to the London Drum Show at Kensington Olympia! Glad I took my ear plugs!!!
The drum show was great. It's forever growing, and the whole drumming community it so tight, I love it! So good to meet up with some old friend, and also make some new ones. Big thanks to Tuner Fish Lug Locks for showing their interest in me. Looking forward to being a part of it!!
I went down to the jam night after the drum show and hear some absolutely amazing players!! Yolanda Charles on bass and Rob Harris on guitar! Wow!!!
